  1. The call started at 1:05 pm Eastern.

  2. Agenda:
    • NANOG 45 Thank You Notes!
    • PC Govenernance
    • NANOG 46 Deadlines and Dates
    • NANOG 46 Talk Recruiting

  3. NANOG 45 Thank You Notes:

THe PC would like to express our gratitute to Josh Snowhorn, Maria Alvarez, and their teams at Terremark for their contributions to NANOG 45. The teams worked countless hours to make NANOG 45 in the Dominican Republic a memorable meeting.

Thanks to Richard, Todd, and Gayle for working on improvements to the NANOG PC tool. New functionality to permit presentation uploading directly from the site will greatly streamline the process of prepping presentations for review.

  4. PC Structure:

Todd reiterated that he and Ren are term limited on the PC and therefore will be stepping down from Chair and Vice Chair roles in the near future. Todd proposes that we "select" Chair and Vice Chair roles during each Summer NANOG. This allows new PC members to have one meeting experience before running for this role. It also leaves the old Chair and Vice Chair on the PC for one meeting of transition/assistance.

Todd, Ren, Joel, and Josh will be required to step off the PC at the close of NANOG 47.

Dave has expressed interest in the Chair position. Tom D. has expressed interest in the Vice Chair position. What about others? If interested, please e-mail Todd or Ren.

  5. NANOG 46 Deadlines and Dates:

Merit will open conference registration after the call. Presentation, Tutorial, and BOF submissions can be made at http://www.nanogpc.org/. Sponsorship opportunities exist for NANOG 46, NANOG 47, and NANOG 48 - please e-mail [email protected] if you are interested.

CFP deadlines will be the Friday before each Tuesday PC call.

    CFP Deadline 1: 6-Mar-09

    CFP Deadline 2: 27-Mar-09

    Draft Agenda: approx. 31-Mar-09

    CFP Deadline 3: 10-April-09

    Final Agenda: 17-April-09

    Open Lightning Talks: 15-May-09

Betty and the PC discussed other miscellaneous logistics for the meeting.

  6. NANOG 46 Talk Recruiting:
Keynote - There is general interest in doing something about BitTorrent. Possible experts who could present are Dave Clark or Andy Bechtolsheim. Another idea is to ask Dan Kaminsky to talk about his recursive DNS resolver bug discovered last summer. The PC spent some time discussing the merits of a visionary keynote vs. a highly technical keynote.

Peering BOF - We have an abstract posted to the PC tool.

Security BOF - We are working to get an abstract submited from someone into the PC tool.

Switch / FIB BoF ideas - What do you need to do to switch architectures to hit 100G? What do you do to make an affordable high density switch? What can be done to get L3 at high densities?

IPv6 Rollout BOF - What's working, what is not working?

Demo Lounge - An idea to get more marketing dollars into NANOG.

Green Datacenter BOF or Panel - A discussion about green datacenters and what you should be asking your vendors about them.

BGP BOF - going over BGP new features, BMP, convergence, etc.

Finally, the PC discussed problems with the hotel registration website. Merit is investigating.

  7. Call ended at 2:15 pm.
