October 2, 2008, NANOG44 and NANOG45 PC Meeting Minutes

The goal of the fourth call was to make necessary adjustments for NANOG44 and to draft the program for NANOG45.
NANOG44:
The IPv6 Debate will be postponed until NANOG45 and may be restructured as a panel.
The topical 'IP Hijack' presentation will take its place, modified post-review in Wired Magazine.
- Lightning talks - Requests to present 5-10 minutes of material, including brief Q&A, can now be made at http://www.nanogpc.org for NANOG44. NANOG45 lightning talk submission dates will be announced in January 2009.
- Newcomer's Breakfast - Newcomer's Breakfast invitations will be distributed approximately one week prior to NANOG44. We look forward to many new and familiar faces Monday morning the 13th of October at 8:30am in the Crystal Room.
NANOG45:
NANOG45 planning is well underway. The submission tool will be available for presentations mid-October 2008 at http://www.nanogpc.org.
A reminder to confirm visa requirements should be included in the CFP.
Regional operators are highly encouraged to submit presentations for NANOG45.
- BOFs - Please engage the following leaders directly, or email[email protected] if you need their contact data, to present material during any of the following BOFs:
- Security - Warren Kumari, Google and Danny McPherson, Arbor
- Tools - Joel Jaeggli, Nokia
- Peering - Aaron Hughes, Cariden Technologies
- Tutorials - NANOG45 will include a blend of refreshed prior material and new material. Ticketing system basics, MPLS, VPNs, BFD, etc. are of interest. Materials, including question and answer time, should be geared towards a 90 minute session.
- Panels - Three panels of regional interest are under development. Please engage the NANOG Program Committee at [email protected] and include which panel is of interest so we may relay your request to the appropriate moderator.
- Undersea cable expansion and impact on regional traffic distribution.
- Collocation challenges - HVAC and other regional considerations.
- Recently established Internet Exchange Points - non-profit and commercial options.
